For the first 30 years of my adult life, I worked in public education as a teacher, principal and director of programs. I dedicated my creativity to developing programs that helped children and youth succeed. When I retired, I needed a new direction for my creative spirit and quilting filled the hole. I had been an avid sewer from clothes to decorating, but never had approached the idea of quilting. Once I did, I was hooked. I have found myself developing from a traditional quilter to becoming a quilt artist.
As an artist, playing with color, design and embellishment is my focus. My lines have developed from traditional patterned quilting to fabric art for display. Children's books have always been an inspiration and I have made children's quilts based on favorite characters. Other lines include more practical essentials for the home. I love adding embellishments because they take the fabric creations to a richer level. Like polishing a piece of silver, the textures of the additional fabrics and the sparkles of the beads add to the beauty of the design. Designing and creating support my fanciful outlook on life. I hope as you visit my site that you enjoy the fanciful as well. http://www.sylviahaydencreations.com
